Rationale: The Leawood Police Department, supported by the Mayor and City Council, and with the cooperation of the alarm industry and the alarm users, has been able to significantly reduce false alarms over the past five years. The Command Staff, patrol officers and the Communications Unit have all worked with the Alarm Coordinator to increase the number of active systems in the city by 35.5% while at the same time reducing the false alarms by 45.7%, with an estimated savings of $2,246,000. And the trend is continuing in 2005.
